The Asian Studies Program provides courses on Asian cultures, civilizations, and societies, in a broad range that includes East Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia, as electives for all students.

In addition to offering an interdisciplinary minor, Asian Studies also offers majors and minors in Chinese and Japanese through its subsidiary Asian Languages and Cultures Program (ALC).

pacrim

The Pacific Rim Study Abroad Program (PacRim Program) promotes the liberal educational mission of the University of Puget Sound, extending the curriculum to incorporate substantive encounters with Asian life and culture. PacRim also serves as a forum for students’ personal development through involvement in a strong community, the cultivation of tolerance and independence, and improved intercultural competence.

Aya Goto

Aya Goto graduated in May 2019 with a double major in Japanese and Comparative Politics. She is currently working as a Coordinator for International Relations through the Japanese Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program.  Read about Aya’s experience working in Japan.
