Jean Baumgartel ’76

Occupational therapist Jean Baumgartel ’76 spent 30 years with Group Health Cooperative/Kaiser Permanente before retiring in 2015. During her career and in the years since, she has volunteered her time providing health care in Vietnam, Nepal, Peru, Honduras, and other countries. She is a founding board member of LICHA African Heritage Relief Organization, a Tacoma-based nonprofit, and she serves on a Health Volunteers Overseas steering committee to help improve the availability and quality of health care in resource-scarce countries. She also has mentored a number of Puget Sound occupational therapy students.
