Arts, Performances, and Entertainment

Kittredge Gallery annually presents nine major shows featuring work from student and faculty artists and the art community at large. The School of Music is home to many excellent musical groups, including a jazz band, a symphony orchestra, a wind ensemble, and choirs, all of which present regular concerts. The Theatre Arts Department produces two major plays every year. Students also stage up to ten additional productions annually. Staff and faculty members often receive advance notice of these events and reduced performances with admission charges. Scores of nationally known speakers and performers visit Puget Sound each year, and staff and faculty members often receive discounted admission prices.

We have a Membership for University Student Enrichment (MUSE) with Tacoma Art Museum (TAM), which provides several benefits for Puget Sound faculty, staff, and students, supported through the Catharine Gould Chism Fund for the Humanities and Arts. Benefits include:

  • Unlimited complimentary admission for all University of Puget Sound students, faculty, and staff
  • Unlimited complementary self-guided and guided group tours (preregistration is required)
  • 10% discount at the TAM Cafe
  • Member rates on TAM programs
  • Priority announcements of TAM student internships
  • Use of classroom space, if available

MUSE benefits are available by presenting current Puget Sound student, faculty, or staff ID. Please reach out togrouptours@TacomaArtMuseum.org or 253.722.2460 to coordinate with the group tours team TAM for groups of 10 or more, even if you are not requesting a tour.

In recent years, Tacoma Art Museum has provided more than 500 free and discounted admissions to Puget Sound students and colleagues, and has seen increased programming and event participation by members of the Puget Sound community throughout the year. TAM considers Puget Sound "one of the model members of the MUSE program, which continues to strengthen the educational and community-building cornerstones on which the program was built."

We are pleased to continue Puget Sound's long-standing relationship with Tacoma Art Museum, started when Jones Hall was TAM's original home from 1935 through 1958, and we continue to work together in important ways to think creatively about future collaborations. Information about museum events and exhibitions is available on the TAM website.
