Emergency Response:
Security Services responds to various emergent needs and situations within its jurisdiction, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The scope of responses includes basic medical, suspicious activities, and criminal response. If a response requires resources and training beyond that of the department, Security Services serves as the point of contact for procuring more specialized responders such as the Tacoma Police and/or the Tacoma Fire Department, among others.
To initiate an emergency response, please call Security Services at 253.879.3311.
Security Operations:
Security Services operates continually, regardless of time, day, or holiday. Department operations include maintaining and updating the building schedules, patrolling campus, providing a security presence at university events, maintaining the electronic building access system, managing university key issuance, managing the vehicle registration and parking enforcement program, and various other duties activities. Security Services works closely with Residence Life, Athletics, and other university departments to ensure a proper university business flow and activities across campus.

Security Escorts:
Security Services offers a Security Escort Program 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Escorts are available to and from locations on and off-campus. For safety reasons, we cannot provide escorts to medical facilities.
Off-campus escorts are available by vehicle, with the following boundaries:
- East Boundary: the corner of Division and I streets
- West Boundary: North Stevens Street
- North Boundary: North 30th Avenue

Note: Dependent on staff availability, escorts to and from off-campus locations may be provided by a local taxi company at the request and expense of the university.
