Food Salvage was started in 2005 in response to leftover SUB food being thrown in the trash. Food Justice provides a way to simultaneously reduce waste while helping those in need. Now in its 9th year, volunteers salvage food from the SUB three times a week and deliver it to the Guadalupe House, a transitional house in downtown Tacoma.

Food Salvage is a great way to make a big impact in someone’s life without a huge time commitment. Volunteers are asked to commit to a one hour block on Monday or Friday afternoons (sometime between 3 and 6 p.m.). Groups consist of 2 or 3 volunteers, and one person must have consistent access to a car. Students can sign up in teams or as individuals.
