First-Generation College Celebration Day Luncheon

The First Generation Loggers Network and the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity are sponsoring a first generation college celebration luncheon on this date and time, to mark the National First-Generation Celebration Day. This event marks the anniversary of the passage of the Higher Education Act of 1965, which created the federal Pell Grant system and is often associated with the expanded opportunity that this provided for families and communities who had historically not been part of the US college experience. 

First generation college students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend this luncheon to celebrate the many contributions of our first generation students and colleagues. The First Generation Loggers Network defines a first-generation college student as follows: 

• Those whose parent(s) did not possess a four-year college degree from a U.S. higher education program at the time of enrollment. 

If you identify as a first-generation college student, faculty, or staff member, please RSVP for the luncheon by Tuesday, October 24. RSVPing is required to ensure a correct meal count for catering purposes.
