His book, Transnational Palestine, focuses particularly on the Palestinian diaspora in Chile and Mexico, and was the Winner of the 2023 Nikki Keddie Book Award–sponsored by the Middle East Studies Association–and shortlisted for the 2023 Palestine Book Awards–sponsored by the Middle East Monitor (MEMO). Currently, Dr. Bawalsa works as the associate editor for the Journal of Palestinian Studies.
