Sky and Sea - Concert and Environmental Activities

Add to Calendar 2024-01-20 19:30:00 2024-08-04 18:21:53 Sky and Sea - Concert and Environmental Activities University of Puget Sound is pleased to collaborate with Northwest Sinfonietta as they present, "Sky and Sea" conducted by Mei-Ann Chen. This innovative concert features Marjan Mozetich's 'Postcards from the Sky'; Viet Cuong's 'Re(new)al' for percussion quartet; and Claude Debussy's 'La Mer' -- music conveying themes of taking care of the Earth.  To compliment the concert's themes, Northwest Sinfonietta has teamed up with environmental partners Tacoma Tree Foundation, Communities for a Healthy Bay, and University of Puget Sound's Environmental Studies program to offer extra opportunities surrounding the concert and to learn about how we can better care for our beautiful Puget Sound region. EVENT SCHEDULE | SATURDAY, JAN. 20 11 a.m.: Free tree walk. Meet at the University of Puget Sound Schneebeck Concert Hall for a free tree walk hosted by Tacoma Tree Foundation and led by Sarah Low on the University of Puget Sound Campus. Hot beverages ready at the end to warm you up! Participants in the tree walk are eligible for a special ticket offer to the concert. (Sign up requested)   6:15 p.m.: Pre-concert panel discussion. Visit with representatives from Communities for a Healthy Bay, Tacoma Tree Foundation, University of Puget Sound's Environmental Studies program, and Northwest Sinfonietta!   7:30 p.m.:  Northwest Sinfonietta concert in Schneebeck Concert Hall.
