The wet lab is used for basic science research focused on understanding some of the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate skeletal muscle homeostasis. The lab relies primarily on the rodent model to induce increased/decreased activity models and muscle regeneration.
Routine experimental assays include muscle histology, histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology. Instrumentation includes a thermal cycler for gene expression analyses, cryostat for tissue preparation, epifluorescence microscope to visualize cellular morphology and properties, and a variety of other equipment.
