Adam Chong, Class of 2018, was an International Political Economy major and Politics and Government minor from Placentia, California. As a campus host for the Campus Visit Program, Adam gave tours to prospective students and their families. Adam also supervised intramural sports and refereed intramural basketball, volleyball, soccer, softball matches. In addition, Adam served as co-leader of the Ubiquitous They Sketch Comedy and Improv Troupe. Reflecting his interest in politics, Adam interned for Michelle Park Steel of the Orange County Board of Supervisors, where he provided policy analysis and represented his supervisor at fundraisers and other public events. Adam's GDS senior thesis, The Lessons of Rapid Industrialization in South Korea, explored how the harsh effects of civil war and military rule in South Korea eventually led to rapid economic development and a difficult transition towards democracy.
