Bill Colby Retrospective: August 29 - September 24, 2016
Past & Present Faculty Exhibition: October 3 - November 5, 2016
A rich selection of prints by Professor emeritus Bill Colby opened the gallery exhibitions and Kittredge Hall celebrations for the 2016-2017 year. Colby was an indefatigable presence in the Art Department and the University as a whole from 1956 until his retirement in 1989. His work across six decades synthesizes imagery from the natural world with a range of printmaking techniques and influences.
The expertise of past and present faculty from the 1950s to the present was on display in the exhibition that followed, which featured works by Carlton Ball, John McCuistion, Betty Sapp Ragan, Melissa Weinman, Ken Stevens, Frances Chubb, and more in addition to current studio art faculty. Art Professors Janet Marcavage and Elise Richman organized this exhibition with gallery manager Peter Stanley.
