Dear Puget Sound Community Members,

We hope this message finds you healthy. 

Learning, teaching, living, and working at the University of Puget Sound are intertwined community endeavors. Maintaining our safety and connectedness as a community in the midst of a global pandemic requires that each of us observe heightened health and safety precautions.

It is up to each of us to conscientiously do our part by embracing collective responsibility for the care of our community. By following a set of shared expectations, we can protect ourselves while minimizing the spread of COVID-19 on our campus and in our community. This includes some personal inconvenience to keep ourselves and others safe and to protect our families and friends who may be outside of our campus community.

We have adopted a Puget Sound Community Pledge to affirm our commitments to protecting ourselves, each other, and our campus and establishing expectations and standards for keeping the university community safe during this public health crisis. All members of the university community are expected to follow this pledge, whether on campus or off. 

The pledge will be available on various platforms to make it visible to everyone—even non-campus members—and affirm our individual and shared commitments to care and responsibility during this time. We will incorporate the pledge into our daily screening tool and post it around campus to remind our shared goals and obligations. Please review the pledge, as it will guide certain conduct expectations for the fall, consistent with our Return to Work on Campus guide and other COVID-19 related university protocols adopted.

Again, we are excited to welcome our community home to Puget Sound—remotely and on-campus. Please join us in taking the pledge now.
