I want to share with you several opportunities to engage in anti-racism dialogue and action this fall semester, and I invite you to engage in this work.
Tacoma Art Museum
The Race and Pedagogy Institute in collaboration with the African American Studies and the Tacoma Art Museum organized a series of online conversations this month inspired by the Kinsey Collection exhibition at the Tacoma Art Museum. The first event is this Sunday, Sept. 12, 1–2:30 p.m. Presenters include African American Studies and Education student, Serena Sevasin ’22, and Collins librarian and archivist Angela Weaver. Professors Grace Livingston and Renee Simms are moderating. Here is a link to this Sunday’s event as promoted by the museum.
Tacoma Reads Program
Last week I sent a communication announcing our partnership with the Tacoma Reads program. University of Puget Sound is sponsoring book groups to engage in dialogue on the themes presented in the book Caste: The Origins of our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson. Those who sign up to join a book group will be gifted a copy of the book. If you have not signed up, please do so no later than Friday, Sept. 10.
