Good morning Loggers! I hope you are doing well and enjoying our fall weather. I'm writing to invite you to participate in the Clean Car Campaign.
Keeping a clean car means removing all items such as tablets, computers, laptops, cell phones, purses, wallets, and other valuables when your vehicle is unattended. Leave those valuables at home, or take them with you.
Suspects know to look for items hidden within vehicles; they check everywhere. Suspects are watching, so please avoid putting valuables in your trunk when you arrive at your destination. Put things away before your arrival. Never keep a spare key inside the car.
Since campus safety is a shared responsibility at Puget Sound, Security Service Officers will be inspecting vehicles on campus while on their patrols. If they notice a vehicle with any of the items mentioned above inside a community member's car, we will reach out to you to help prevent theft on campus.
Bicycle theft is another issue facing our campus. Please utilize a U-bolt-style lock to help prevent bicycle theft. Always remember to secure bicycles through the frame and remove expensive accessories.
Lastly, always immediately report suspicious or unusual activity to Security Services. We are available 24 hours a day, and you can contact us at 253.879.3311 or just "3311" from a campus extension. If you haven't yet, please program our number into your phone.
