Dear Members of the Campus Community,
Technology Services is in the process of transitioning our email and calendar system from Microsoft Exchange to Google Mail and Calendar for all students, faculty, and staff. This transition will allow campus members to have larger mailbox sizes, reduce spam and phishing, improve account security, enhance ease of use with Gmail-native features such as labels, and leverage enhanced functionality for integration with other Google Workspace applications. To minimize disruption to academic activities, the transition will take place on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
Technology Services will move all non-archived mail, calendar items, and contacts to Google. Email addresses ending in @pugetsound.edu will retain the same address, but email will be accessed through login.pugetsound.edu and by selecting the Google Mail tile or by visiting webmail.pugetsound.edu.
Once you have logged into Google Mail on January 4, you will need to recreate your email signature and rules, share your calendar or subscribe to a calendar somebody has shared with you, and enable browser notifications for new emails and calendar reminders. Information on getting started includes instructions on where to access these settings. If you check email on a mobile device, you will need to install the Gmail app and add the account.
To support our community and ensure a successful transition, we will hold in-person, hybrid, and virtual training sessions between November 2022 and March 2023.
Register for one of the following campus-wide trainings:
- Tuesday, November 29; Noon-1 p.m.
- Friday, December 2; 10-11 a.m.
- Monday, December 5; 2-3 p.m.
- Tuesday, December 6; 4-5 p.m.

- Additional training will be available on and after January 4.
