My experience as an undergraduate writing tutor changed my life, leading me to pursue a graduate degree in Rhetoric, Composition, and Literacy Studies. I love to participate in and facilitate conversations around writing; there is something magical about talking face-to-face with a reader about a piece of writing in progress. I have worked at writing centers at Carleton College, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and, of course, at the University of Puget Sound. I am on the board of the National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing and am the host of the 2024 conference. Some of my favorite experiences as a professor have been going to peer tutoring conferences with CWL tutors.

I joined the CWL in July 2024 following over a decade teaching English and History. I am eager to help students incorporate neuroscience-based strategies into their study and academic skills, and am excited to help mentor this year’s cohort of tutors. My own academic interests are wide ranging, so I love talking with students about their research, courses, and papers, no matter the subject!

I love all things education and nature and I hold environmental education close to my heart. I try to spend as much time outside and in wild spaces as possible. I even bring my cats with me sometimes (on their leashes of course). I graduated from UPS in 2024 and double majored in EPDM and GQS and minored in EDUC. I am now part of the Masters of Arts in Teaching program and plan on being an early elementary teacher here in Tacoma! I have worked at the CWL for over three years now so if you have any questions, I am here to help!
