Getting Started with Copier ID Numbers: Student Workers and New Accounts
Faculty and Staff
Every member of the faculty and staff at the university is given a Copier ID Number. They are automatically assigned to every new hire, and are sent out in an email from printing@pugetsound.edu. Copier ID Numbers are used to login to the Konica Minolta copiers.
Logging into any Konica copier on campus with your copier ID number allows Papercut to supply that copier with your Google Drive address, prints waiting to be released, and the departments or programs you are authorized to charge.
To view or request a new copier ID number, go to papercut.pugetsound.edu and login to your Papercut account. Once there, you can see your ID number (hit show in the Card/ID square), the current total balance for your department, your recent print jobs, and any prints waiting to be released. Under Change Details you can also generate a new copier ID number.
What about Student Workers?
In general, we recommend that offices that employ student workers create a generic student or office login and email account, separate from the student's personal login. Doing this is equivalent to creating a work account for the student, separate from their personal accounts. It allows for the cleanest and easiest separation of work and personal life.
Once your student workers are provided with such an account, it will be connected to Papercut and operate the same as any other staff or faculty account. The main difference is that generic student accounts do scan to network share folders, rather than Google Drive accounts. Printing that is done while the student is logged into a computer with their work account is charged to the department, and they will be given a copier ID number to make photocopies and scan documents.
If you need to have such an account set up for your student workers, please contact Print & Copy Services.
If this solution would not work for your office set up and workflows, feel free to contact us to create an alternate solution. If some type of solution is not put in place, students may end up having their student print credits charged for their work usage.
