Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Bend, OR.

Do you have a favorite place in Tacoma?
The shoreline of Point Defiance Park! After visiting for the first time I started to truly picture Tacoma as my next home.

Name a class at Puget Sound you are interested in, but haven’t taken.
Critiquing Education from the Sociology and Anthropology program. Questioning and working to better or rebuild the systems we participate in is an aspect of a liberal arts education that I really value.

What is a book that has been influential for you?
Braiding Sweetgrass by Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer. (And if you listen to the audiobook, Dr. Kimmerer's voice is like a warm hug!)

What emoji do you most identify with or use the most?
☺️

What do you look for in an application?
I look for an application where a student can center their story on key values and interests they hold, and how they demonstrate those in their academic and personal life.

What TV show are you watching?
The Great British Bake Off—peak comfort show, especially in the fall.

What's your coffee/tea order of choice?
Any seasonal variety from Smith Tea (if you're ever in Portland, OR check them out!)

What advice do you have for a prospective graduate student?
My advice for prospective students is to be open to surprises, especially when visiting schools. You can think a school isn't right for you and then step on campus and feel totally different. It can be really fun to realize that you've changed your mind and found the best fit for you in the most unexpected place!
