Nila Wiese

Professor, Business and Leadership and Professor, Latin American Studies

Nila Wiese’s teaching and research are in the areas of international business strategy in the context of emerging markets, particularly in Latin America; cross-cultural and gender issues in leadership, with attention to talent management and business strategy; and migration in international business. Her most recent publications include: Business in Latin America: Strategic Opportunities and Risks (Routledge, 2023, forthcoming), and Kothari, T., Elo, M., & Wiese, N. (2022). “Born as a citizen and reborn as an alien: Migrant superdiversity in global business,” AIB Insights, 22(3). Her current research projects focus on diversity, equity and inclusion of migrant entrepreneurs, and the impact of gender and culture on work-life integration. Wiese has professional experience in banking, consulting, and executive training. She has also worked in small business development in Central America and the state of Washington. Wiese is the current chair of the Academy of International Business, United States—West Chapter.
