Interns engage in 40 hours of professional activity each week. In consultation with a supervisor and/or Training Director, each intern will have some discretionary time for select activities. The actual time per week for many of the activities below fluctuates during the year related to the training cycle and clinical flow. The chart below represents a typical week during the academic year. Please note that some of the hours are in parentheses to indicate they are rotation hours that will vary based upon the intern’s rotation.

During August, the interns are involved in orientation; thus, the training hours are increased, and clinical hours decrease. During June and July, the interns see a modest number of clients; therefore, most of their hours are focused on clinical documentation of treatment summaries. The interns also work on projects such as finalizing their developing specialty presentations, conducting job searches, and engaging in work supporting planning and preparation for the next academic cycle.
