Coffee Chats on Government Action
We understand that many of you may have the desire to discuss concerns about the array of executive orders, actions and possible legislation coming out of Washington DC and its impact on higher education, and to better understand how the University of Puget Sound is addressing these actions.
In response, we are offering opportunities to engage with one another and with university leadership around these issues.
At 11:00am every Friday, April 4 through April 25, at the Wheelock Piano Lounge, please join me for an informal coffee chat to discuss any thoughts, questions, concerns or ideas about recent government actions. VP and General Counsel Joanna Carey Cleveland, VP for Institutional Equity and Diversity Lorna Hernandez Jarvis, and VP for Student Affairs Sarah Comstock will join as they are able. We are happy to talk about a wide variety of questions and concerns and if your question is of a more personal variety, we are happy to find a time to meet individually.
We believe Puget Sound’s policies and practices are in compliance with all federal, state and local laws. We remain committed to the principles articulated in our University Diversity Statement. An inclusive environment is essential to the work we do, and we stand against discrimination in all its forms. We affirm our dedication to the long-term work of being an institution where students, faculty and staff of all backgrounds and identities feel welcome on our campus, regardless of their sex, race, color, national origin, religion, age, disability, marital or familial status, sexual orientation, veteran service, or gender identity.
