Add to Calendar 2024-09-19 19:00:00 2024-09-19 21:00:00 Nathan Breedlove Jazz Quartet Logger Late Nights and the Black Alumni Union present two-time Grammy Nominee Nathan Breedlove backed by his Jazz Trio. Come for an hour of original jazz which honors the traditions of our ancestors. Nathan Breedlove is a twice Grammy-nominated jazz musician, composer and cosmic philosopher. Breedlove considers his music ‘storytelling’. Jazz music originated as the cry, joy and shout of the negro people. Nathan hears the calling to present this heritage throughout his life through love and music. Nathan was raised in Memphis, TN and is a member of the Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame, a recording artist and composer. He is a former member of the Lionel Hampton Orchestra, David Murray band and spent almost a decade with the legendary Skatalites. Breedlove has performed, recorded and toured with many artists in Europe, Japan, Africa and the USA. He has been featured on NPR’s Fresh Air, ABC’s Nightline, the Conan O’Brien Show and in many print interviews. A chapter is also devoted to him in legendary bassist William Parker’s new book, ‘Conversations II, Dialogues and Monologues‘. In 2014 Nathan decided upon bassist Phil Sparks and drummer Brian Kirk to form The nu Trio, making this union his official return notice to the scene. Since his return to the 2014 Vision Festival in NYC, he has been very active on the scene with performances in Seattle, Los Angeles and NYC. Nathan currently is a member of the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, teaches at the Jazz Night School and fronts his own band. The Nathan Breedlove Quintet features the music of Memphis jazz composers. Presented by Student Involvement and Programs, and the Black Alumni Union, and there'll be networking and light refreshments as part of the event.
