Have we returned to a pre-Roe legal landscape? A comparison between state statutes before Roe and after Dobbs, reveals some expected similarities, some significant differences, and some surprises. Lisa Johnson is a Distinguished Professor of Legal Studies. She serves as the Director of the School of Business and Leadership. Her research interests include how U.S. domestic law has shaped the lives of women. Additionally, her research has focused on law as an instrument of power in many contexts – as applied to nonhuman animals, the natural environment, and persons who are perceived as standing apart from the norms of the dominant culture. Reception to follow, celebrating Professor Johnson’s talk. The John D. Regester Lecture series was established in 1965 to honor John Regester, who joined the Puget Sound faculty in 1924. The address is given by a member of the university who exemplifies the qualities of scholarship and intellectual integrity that professors and students have long associated with Regester, who taught philosophy and served as dean of the university and graduate school. This event is open to all campus and community members.
