Sara Davis Buechner piano concert
The School of Music is pleased to welcome guest pianist Sara Davis Buechner for a recital concert as part of the 2024-25 Keyboard Series. Buechner will be performing works by Mozart, Dvořák, Gershwin, and more.
Buechner is recognized for her "intelligence, integrity, and all-encompassing technical prowess" (New York Times), "thoughtful artistry in the full service of music" (Washington Post), and "astounding virtuosity" (Philippine Star). Japan's InTune magazine sums up: "Buechner has no superior."
Buechner has achieved top honors in various international competitions since her twenties, and has performed in every state and province in North America as a recitalist, chamber musician, and soloist with top orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, and Philadelphia Orchestra; and in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Hollywood Bowl.
After holding various prestigious teaching positions, Buechner joined the faculty of Temple University's Boyer College of Music and Dance, and has presented master classes and workshops; has adjudicated important international piano competitions; and is a contributing editor for Dover Publications International. She has been a dedicated Yamaha Artist for more than 30 years.
As a proud transgender woman, Buechner also appears as a speaker and performer at important LGBQT events, and shares her experience in numerous media outlets worldwide.
This performance is sponsored by the Catharine Gould Chism Fund for the Humanities and is part of the School of Music's second annual Keyboard Series.
Tickets for this performance are $25, general; $20 senior citizen, military; free for students.

Buechner will be participating in roundtable discussion with Professor Ronaldo Rolim, School of Music; Professor Gwynne Brown, School of Music and Interdisciplinary Humanities Emphasis; and Melvin Rouse, Psychology, Gender & Queer Studies. In the discussion, "Unlocking the Music Inside," Buechner will discuss her career trajectory as a transgender artist.
The roundtable discussion is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available.
