TACOMA, Wash. – Kenneth Willman ’82, a Russell Investments senior executive who has lived and worked in Hong Kong, London, New York, Tokyo, and Seattle, will be the keynote speaker at the 2013 Puget Sound Business Breakfast on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

Willman, chief legal officer and secretary of the highly regarded global asset management company, will give a talk titled “Around the World in 18 Years: Reflections and Projections from a Career in Global Finance.” The breakfast is hosted by University of Puget Sound’s Alumni Association.

In his talk the graduate and trustee of University of Puget Sound will offer insight into the cultural opportunities and the challenges of working abroad, and share his thoughts on the future of global financial markets, which have undergone tumultuous times over the past several years. He also will address the efforts by Russell Investments to build the financial services sector in the Puget Sound region.

Kenneth Willman is a member of Russell Investments’ executive committee and global leadership forum. In his roles as chief legal officer and secretary of the company, he is responsible for Russell’s global legal, compliance, internal audit, governance, and corporate records, as well as for risk management and government and community relations.

Willman joined Russell in August 2008 from Goldman Sachs, where he had a 16-year career, most recently as general counsel of non-Japan Asia in the Hong Kong office. He served in a variety of roles at Goldman Sachs, including as global general counsel of the investment banking division. He was based in London for 12 years, before moving to Hong Kong. Prior to this Willman worked for the international law firm Sullivan & Cromwell in New York and Tokyo. 

A member of the bar associations of Washington and New York, Willman serves on the board of trustees at University of Puget Sound. He is on the board of directors for Covenant House, a New York charity that aids homeless youth; Seattle Opera; and The 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle. He previously served on the advisory board of the Institute for Law and Economics at University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1986.

Willman graduated from University of Puget Sound in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in economics, and a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in politics and government, with minors in mathematics and music.
