Dear Members of the Campus Community,
Thank you for your adherence to the many health and safety protocols in place to protect all members of our campus community.
The gateway testing that is taking place on campus is allowing us to identify COVID-19 cases in a timely way and help contain the spread of the very contagious Omicron variant. In consultation with the COVID-19 Management Group and Emergency Policy Council, we determined today that the university will resume in-person course instruction and campus activities effective Monday, Jan. 24.
In-person instruction on our residential campus is essential to promoting student success and well-being—academically, socially, and mentally. We know that this first week back in person will not be free of disruption: there will be faculty, staff and students who are in isolation or quarantine, and this will likely continue for some time. We ask that students be responsible in notifying their faculty or work supervisors when they are absent and consult about the best ways to stay engaged with course material and assignments; that faculty be as accommodating as possible in supporting student absences, as their course expectations allow; and that staff continue to notify their supervisors if they must be absent from work.
All members of the campus community should continue to wear masks and participate in weekly PCR saliva testing until notified otherwise. Additional guidance will be provided by Counseling, Health and Wellness Services, including an anticipated shortening of the length of time required for quarantine and isolation. Please continue to check your email for updates.
We have met the pandemic thus far with patience, flexibility and grace. I am confident that we will do the same in the coming weeks, as we collectively move forward to provide our students with an academically challenging and rewarding campus experience.
Sincerely,
Isiaah
