Dear Members of the Campus Community,
It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that a first-year student, Wren Gollin, has passed away in Harrington Hall. A cause of death has not been determined, but we can confirm that there is no danger to the campus at large.
The loss of the life of a student is devastating. Members of the Student Affairs staff and others are working closely with the family and with students. If you would like to speak or meet with a counselor tonight, they will be available at Kilworth Lounge until 9 p.m. The Kilworth Chapel will also be available if you need a quiet space for reflection. If you need additional support services after 9 p.m., please contact Pierce County Crisis Line at 1.800.576.7764. If it would be helpful for you to gather with others during this difficult time, Student Affairs staff will be available from Noon - 3 p.m. in the Murray Boardroom on Friday, March 24. If you would like support in the coming days, please contact Counseling, Health, and Wellness Services at 253.879.1555.
An update will be shared with the campus community tomorrow. Meanwhile, I know you join me in holding the family—and each other—close in our thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Isiaah Crawford, Ph.D. | President
