Dear Campus Community,

The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) will conduct the Spring 2025 NWCCU Evaluation of Institutional Effectiveness (EIE) review and visit with the University of Puget Sound on April 23-25, 2025. During summer and fall 2024, the Accreditation Review Committee will lead a comprehensive and cross-functional collaborative review and assessment of our academic programs, student success and achievement efforts, and mission fulfillment. This work will result in a detailed EIE report that will be submitted to NWCCU in early spring 2025. The Accreditation Review Committee will also convene and prepare various teams for the on-site visit which encompasses interviews, forums, and meetings with members of the campus community. We greatly appreciate the Accreditation Review Committee’s ongoing commitment and dedicated engagement in this important institutional effort. For more information and for volunteer opportunities, please contact the Committee Chair and Accreditation Liaison Officer, Miriam Chitiga, at mchitiga@pugetsound.edu.

The following provides a summary of the EIE Report: Year Seven Self-Evaluation Report

In year seven of the seven-year accreditation cycle, the institution conducts a comprehensive self-evaluation on all Standards and Eligibility Requirements. In doing so, the institution also updates its response to Standard One to ensure its response to that Standard is current and relevant. Following the self-evaluation, the institution prepares a Year Seven Self-Evaluation Report for submission to the NWCCU office. These Year Seven Mission Fulfillment and Sustainability Reports include the institution’s assessments of core theme achievement, mission fulfillment and student success and achievement. Year Seven Evaluations include an on-site visit by a team of peer evaluators. The institution reports are evaluated by the visiting teams and together with its evaluation and analysis of the institution’s resources, including financial resources, stability and sustainability, serve as the basis on which NWCCU grants reaffirmation of accreditation.

Please mark your calendars for this important visit.

Sincerely,

Isiaah Crawford, Ph.D. | President
