2010 Youth Summit

This was Race & Pedagogy's first Youth Summit. This Summit started with an Opening gathering where all the attendees started, then there were 22 workshops under 4 themes: Education, Social Justice, Individual & Community Wellness, Civic Engagement.

Students attended 1 workshop under each theme. Then once the students were done with the workshop, there was a closing gathering to reflect. The purpose of the summit is to empower and engage high school students in exploring and understanding social justice issues with a critical race analysis.  The Summit’s programs and workshops are designed to expose high school students to the themes and points of the Race and Pedagogy National Conference; but from a youth led and youth centered event.
