To help slow the spread of COVID-19 and keep our community safe, access to campus buildings is limited.

Building Security and Access

Campus buildings are locked 24 hours per day to foster campus health and safety. Restricting building access to campus community members and approved visitors supports COVID-19 prevention.

Campus community members have access to academic and nonacademic buildings via their LoggerCards. Approved visitors can be provided building access per Campus Visitor Guidelines and Procedures.

Students, faculty members, and staff members should not allow noncampus members into facilities, except in accordance with Visitor Guidelines and Procedures. This includes not allowing others to follow campus members into buildings, otherwise known as “tailgating."

Student Building Access Hours

Student building access hours vary by facility, depending on building functions and student use needs. All students can enter the following buildings during listed access hours using their LoggerCard. Student card access will be activated Monday, Jan. 25 (except for athletic facilities as noted immediately below):

General Study and Remote Class Taking Spaces

Collins Memorial Library, Wheelock Student Center, and multiple academic buildings have various areas and classrooms (outside of class hours) in which students can study individually or with other students in accordance with COVID-19 requirements.

There are limited “quiet space” options to study privately or take a remote class. The library has some individual spaces that can be reserved (see the library description above). In addition, the following rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis during building access hours for taking remote classes:

  • Howarth 011, 201
  • Jones 204, 206, 208, 302, 303
  • McIntyre 307
  • Trimble 112
  • Wheelock 202 (meeting room)
  • Wyatt 304, 308, 326 (conference room)

Student Space Use Responsibilities

Following are COVID-19 space use responsibilities:

  • Students should not admit others to buildings. If you unlock doors to which you have card or key access, re-lock them when you leave the space. Also shut and lock windows opened during space use and turn off lights when leaving spaces.
  • Students must follow COVID-19 written and verbal requirements and guidance, including:
    • Clean and disinfect shared surfaces and equipment before and after each use. Disinfecting wipes will be available in each room to clean and disinfect.
    • Wear a mask at all times.
    • Maintain social distancing of 6 feet between occupants.
