Blues Vespers Presents: Joel Astley

Blues Vespers at Kilworth Chapel continues a 25-year Tacoma tradition blending live blues, poetry, and a little something to think about.   Hosted by the University Chaplaincy, Blues Vespers is a great space for campus and community to gather and celebrate the ways that music and art feed our lives.  

Lecture: Funmilola Fagbamila "Freedom Dreams, A Formula for Justice"

Funmilola Fagbamila is a Nigerian-American playwright, performance artist and professor. Her internationally touring stage play “The Intersection” has been met with critical acclaim by thinkers and artists such as Angela Davis and Erykah Badu. As an international public speaker, Funmilola has delivered keynote addresses, lectures and performances at universities across the U.S. and Europe. Some of the venues include UCLA School of Law, Oxford University, Dartmouth, Stanford and Harvard.

Jacobsen Series: Ronaldo Rolim, piano

The School of Music is pleased to present this faculty recital featuring Ronaldo Rolim, Puget Sound's assistant professor of piano performing works by Schubert, Scriabin, Still, and Schumann.

All are invited to a reception following the program hosted by the SAI international music organization.

Tickets: $20, general; $15 sr. citizen; military, Puget Sound faculty, staff and Community Music participants.

Join us at noon for a variety of short performances featuring talented School of Music students. Performers on Nov. 29 will include Mia Stenberg ’24, clarinet; Alex Westervelt ‘25, flute; Jane Beacock ’24 and Sarah Beacock ’26, clarinet and percussion; Paige Franklin ‘26 and Jack Kuntz ’26, violin and piano; Jasper Hitchman ’27, piano; Caitlin Purcell ’27, piano; and Josie Baranow-Watts ’24, guitar; with collaborative pianists Isabella Jie and Jinshil Yi.

Exhibit Reception - In The Flow: Art Ecology and Pedagogy

The Flow Art & Ecology Symposium on November 3 & 4 and the concurrent gallery exhibit, In the Flow, brings together community partners, educators, and students from the Salish Sea and the Columbia Basin to share material and place-based knowledge practices and understandings of how to listen and learn from local ecologies.
