Students complete two full-time clinical experiences totaling 30 weeks:
- One experience will be providing care in an outpatient setting (either a free-standing private practice or a hospital-based outpatient facility).
- One experience will take place in a complex medical setting (medical center/hospital, specialty rehabilitation center or transitional/skilled nursing facility).
Home Health and school settings are not required, but may be considered as an outpatient experience, depending on the student’s individualized clinical education plan.
Exposure to individuals across the lifespan is encouraged, and at minimum, students must participate in the treatment of both geriatric and young adult populations during their clinical experiences.
The university currently holds over 200 clinical affiliation agreements:
- Clinical settings support clinical experiences in more than 16 states, including large organizations with multiple locations across the country.
- Settings include hospitals, medical centers, urgent care centers, home health agencies, long term care facilities, private practices, and school districts.
