Qatar observes Arabia Standard Time (UTC+3). At the time of our trip, it will be 10 hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time (PST), 9 hours ahead of Mountain Standard Time (MST), 8 hours ahead of Central Standard Time (CST), and 7 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time (EST).

To help participants acclimate to the time change, our itinerary includes time to rest each afternoon. Participants who don’t need to rest can instead spend this time exploring the city using a list of suggested sites to visit in and around Doha.

During the winter months, Qatar enjoys mild weather, with average high temperatures around 70 degrees Fahrenheit (13 C) and nighttime lows dropping to around 55 degrees Fahrenheit (21 C).

Travelers should dress conservatively in long sleeves, long pants, and long skirts. Be sure to wear comfortable, supportive shoes. Participants should be prepared to move between warm outdoor spaces and cool, air-conditioned indoor spaces.

Qatar is one of the safest and easiest countries to travel in. Qataris are accustomed to travelers and are very welcoming—90% of the population is from another country. That being said, visitors should respect cultural norms, including wearing conservative clothes and avoiding public displays of affection.

Alcohol is generally prohibited in public spaces in Qatar. Select international hotels are permitted to serve alcohol to tourists; however, it will not be available at the restaurants on our itinerary.

Much of our travel will be on foot or by riding the city’s brand-new Metro. Taxis are also plentiful throughout the city. On our excursion days when we leave Doha to explore other sites around Qatar, we will hire a van and a driver.
