Most flights from the U.S. arrive in the afternoon.

In spring, Berlin enjoys warm days and cool nights, with average daytime highs around 67 degrees Fahrenheit (19 C) and nighttime lows dropping to around 50 degrees (10 C). Berlin receives an average of 2.5 inches of rain (55 mm) in May. Be sure to check the forecast in the weeks leading up to the trip to ensure that you’re packing weather-appropriate clothing.

Travelers should pack comfortable clothing, supportive walking shoes, and a rain jacket. Our hotel has a pool, spa, and sauna, so consider packing a swimsuit. The opera does not have a dress code; however, travelers are welcome to bring a suit or dress. Those who want to find out why Berlin is considered the center of the clubbing universe might consider bringing club wear or find time to go shopping during the trip.

Berlin is generally a safe city that is friendly and welcoming to tourists. Like all major cities, it is advisable to be cautious, especially in tourist attractions, transportation hubs, and at night. You can find more safety information and travel advisories for Germany and Western Europe on the U.S. State Department’s website.

Berlin is a highly walkable city and many of the sights on our itinerary are within easy walking distance of our hotel. Due to its flat geography, it is also a wonderful city to tour by bike. For longer excursions, we will take public transit. Everyone in our group will be issued a pass good for one month of unlimited travel on all of Berlin’s public transportation.
