Professor, Physical Therapy
Prof. Hastings began teaching in 1995 and has maintained clinical practice since earning her PT license working throughout the spectrum of neurologic care (ICU through outpatient and home health). Prof. Hastings is in her final year with the University of Puget Sound and is passing the responsibility for instruction in adult neurologic rehabilitation to Prof. Roberts and Prof. Rae. In support of Prof. Gray, she is serving as the Associate DCE and adding her wealth of experience to the clinical education curriculum. She is expert in spinal cord injury management, seating and wheelchair prescription, and orthopedic complications of neurologic disease. Prof. Hastings practiced twenty years within the VA healthcare system. Prof. Hastings has researched physical therapy interventions for neurologic clients and more recently aspects of physical therapy education. She has published in Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy, and The American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation among others with over 300 citations of her work. Utilizing her research expertise, this year she will teach the Critical Inquiry class for the class of 2027.
