Piano Master Class with Timothy Hoft

Join us for a piano master class featuring Timothy Hoft, visiting artist and associate professor at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. The School of Music is delighted to welcome this inspiring guest to share his experience and expertise. This event is free and open to the public. Schneebeck Concert Hall at 1 p.m. 

Prior to the master class, on Sunday, March 5, Hoft will perform a piano recital featuring works by Ukranian composers. Kilworth Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m.

Ukrainian Piano Recital with Timothy Hoft

Enjoy a piano recital featuring Timothy Hoft, visiting artist and associate professor at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas performing works entirely devoted to Ukrainian music. The School of Music is pleased to welcome this inspiring guest.

Hoft also will participate in a post-concert roundtable discussion, where he will be joined by Puget Sound and University of Nevada-Las Vegas colleagues. This event is free and open to the public. Kilworth Memorial Chapel, 2 p.m.

Flute Recital Featuring Anastasia Petanova

Join us for a flute recital featuring visiting artist Anastasia Petanova. The School of Music is pleased to welcome Petanova, a faculty member at Del Sol Academy of the Performing Arts in Las Vegas, who brings years of experience, having performed internationally since the age of 12. Petanova will be joined by Ronaldo Rolim, piano and Timothy Christie, viola.

Flute Master Class with Anastasia Petanova

Join us for a flute master class with visiting artist Anastasia Petanova. Petanova is currently a faculty member at Del Sol Academy of the Performing Arts in Las Vegas and brings years of experience, having performed internationally since the age of 12. Music Building, Room L6 at 7 p.m. Free and open to the public.

On Wednesday, March 8, enjoy a recital performance with Petanova joined by Ronaldo Rolim, piano and Timothy Christie, viola. Schneebeck Concert Hall, 7:30 p.m. Free and open to the public.

Mini Maestros: Around the World in 80 Drums

The Community Music Department partners with Symphony Tacoma to present the Mini Maestros music concert series for young children, ages 2-8 years old, and their familes. Each concert highlights a different "family" of instruments in the orchestra using a curriculum prepared by Early Childhood Learning experts and introduced by educator and emcee, Shay Ryan. There is an instrument petting zoo prior to the concert, which gives children an opporutinity to explore the instruments up close. 

Mini Maestros: Peter and the Wolf

The Community Music Department partners with Symphony Tacoma to present the Mini Maestros concert series for young children and their families. Prior to the concert, there is an instrument petting zoo to give children an opportunity to explore the musical instruments up close. 

Mini Maestros: Brass Ahoy! Shiver Me Timbres

The Community Music Department partners with Symphony Tacoma to present the Mini Maestros music concert series for young children, ages 2-8 years old, and their families. Each concert highlights a different family of instruments in the orchestra and is narrated by an Early Childhood Educator. There is also an instrument petting zoo prior to the concert, giving children an opportunity to explore the musical instruments up close.  

Behind the Archives Door: Grit City Magazine

According to its creators, Grit City magazine “was founded on the notion that Tacoma has good stories to tell.”  On Tuesday, March 21 from 3-4pm, editor-in-Chief Sierra Hartman will be on-site to discuss journalism, publishing, and Tacoma’s rich history.  Issues of Grit City will be available to enjoy.  Location: Archives & Special Collections Seminar Room, 2nd floor, Collins Memorial Library
