To Calculate a Projected Cumulative GPA by Hand
- Add up all graded units you have taken and multiply this number by your current cumulative GPA to obtain your cumulative grade points.
- For each course you intend to take, record the grade point value corresponding to the letter grade you expect to receive (see table above). Multiply this grade point value by the course's unit value to determine the grade points you will earn for that course.
- Calculate a new total unit count by adding all the units you intend to take to your cumulative units.
- In the same way, calculate a new grade point total by adding all course grade points to your cumulative grade points obtained in step 1.
- Finally, to calculate your new cumulative GPA, divide your total grade points (step 4) by your total units (step 3).
The GPA Calculator is brought to you by Tom O'Brien of the UC Berkeley Academic Achievement Division.
