Creating your own named annual scholarship through the Puget Sound Fund is a direct way to help enable a deserving student to succeed at Puget Sound. Annual scholarships provide support to enterprising students who aspire to become passionate, visionary leaders. When you make an annual gift commitment of $5,000 or more for four years, an unrestricted scholarship that will help a current student achieve their educational goals and dreams will be named in your honor (or in honor of someone you choose).

The Impact

By establishing a Puget Sound Fund Named Annual Scholarship, you can have an immediate impact on an incoming Puget Sound student and follow them throughout their four years on campus. You will join them on their journey as you facilitate their enrollment at Puget Sound, support them through their college experience, and celebrate with them when they complete their education. Your investment in their lives will continue to pay dividends long after graduation, as your student goes on to make their own impact on the world.

Naming Your Scholarship

While enabling a student to succeed at Puget Sound, your scholarship gift is also a way to commemorate your connection to the college and to the student you are helping support. Your gift enables you to name the scholarship after yourself or in honor or memory of someone who has made a difference in your life or education, such as a professor or loved one. We encourage you to create your named annual scholarship fund in the way that means the most to you.

Scholarship Selection and Award Process

Scholarships are awarded to recipients of the Puget Sound Fund Scholarship—an unrestricted need-based award for students who are in good academic standing. Whenever possible, we will match you with the same student throughout their Puget Sound experience. Scholarships established during the current academic year will be awarded in the fall of the following academic year.

Stewardship

Over the four years your scholarship is active, we will inform you of the recipient of your scholarship and will encourage your student to be in touch with you to show their appreciation. In addition, you will receive annual invitations to select donor recognition events, including the President’s Leadership Society Reception and scholarship events where you may have the opportunity to meet your scholarship recipient(s) and other students impacted by philanthropic support in person. You also will receive an acknowledgment letter from President Crawford and will be included in the annual online donor list.
