Become a Passages Orientation Leader!

Do you want to make an impact? Would you like to gain leadership skills for your future? Are you a motivated individual who wants to welcome incoming students and connect them to our campus? Well this is the position for you!


When you become a Passages Orientation Leader you will get the chance to lead your group on a journey though what it truly means to be a Logger. With the many programs that will be provided to our incoming students, YOU will get the opportunity to build connections that will last for a life time. 

Qualifications

General Qualifications for ALL Leaders:

  • Enroll in STAF 102:  Leadership Foundations course in spring 2024
  • Have the ability to handle multiple tasks and details simultaneously
  • Exhibit leadership abilities with groups by interacting positively and eliciting involvement of new students
  • Exhibit effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Exhibit the ability to make sound, independent judgments, and decisions
  • Exhibit an ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a team member with other leaders
  • Possess a generally positive attitude toward the university and its mission healthy reflection and critique not withstanding 
  • Have an interest in cultivating and participating in fun experiences, especially for new students
  • Have a tolerance for ambiguity, adversity, and possess the ability to improvise
  • Openness to learning and curiosity about how to create inclusive community and affirm diverse experiences 
  • Have energy, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor knowing that the training days are long and require your continued presence.
  • Interest in learning about and interacting with organizations in the Tacoma community. 
  • Willingness to prioritize the needs of the orientation program and new students.
  • Willingness to be a role model and uphold university policies and expectations
  • Have the ability to solve problems with own resources 
  • Attend pre-Passages preparation sessions in August.
  • Possess a generally positive attitude toward the university and its mission healthy reflection and critique not withstanding 
  • Be enrolled at Puget Sound for the Fall Semester of 2024 or through a partnered, sponsored, or approved study abroad program.
