General university degree requirements stipulate that 1) three units of the minor be taken in residence at the University of Puget Sound; 2) students earn a GPA of 2.0 in courses taken for the minor; and 3) all courses taken for the minor must be taken for graded credit. Any exceptions to these stipulations are indicated in the minor degree requirements listed below.
Requirements for the Minor in Data Analytics
The Data Analytics minor requires 5 units:
- DATA 160: Survey of Data Analytics with Code
- One of the following two "core" courses:
- DATA 260 (prerequisite: C- or above in DATA 160 and MATH 180 or equivalent)
- MATH 260 (prerequisite: MATH 160 or MATH 181 or equivalent)
- DATA 260 (prerequisite: C- or above in DATA 160 and MATH 180 or equivalent)
- PHIL 286: Ethics, Data, and Artificial Intelligence
- Two additional units of (non-repeated) electives from the following list: ARTS 288, BIOL 211, BIOL 231, BIOL 365, BIOL 411, BIOL 381, COMM 330, CONN 481, CSCI 431, CSCI 455, ECON 284, ECON 291, ECON 381, ECON 384, MATH 360, MATH 375, MATH 376, SOAN 298, SOAN 300.
Notes
- DATA 160 and either DATA 260 or MATH 260 must be taken at the University of Puget Sound.
- At least one of the elective courses must be from a department outside of the student’s primary major, and at least one of the elective courses must be at the 300-level or above.
