Thomas A. Davis served as Dean of the University of Puget Sound from 1973 until 1994 and was at the forefront of the effort to make Puget Sound a high-quality liberal arts institution. He was also a founding member and avid supporter of the university's Honors Program. In Dean Davis’ name, the Honors Program is able to award two grants each year, each in the amount of $3,250, to support summer research leading either to an Honors Program senior thesis in the Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences, or to an Honors Program senior thesis in Mathematics or one of the Natural Sciences.
