The UEC provides awards for up to $500 to support direct costs related to student research projects, including materials, supplies and equipment, travel, photocopying, and mailing expenses. These awards are meant for independent research and are not meant for course-related research. The UEC (a faculty committee) evaluates each proposal and makes decisions based on the clarity and completeness of the written proposal, appropriateness of the proposed budget, and strength of the recommendation from the faculty advisor. When applicable, awarded funds are not released until IRB, IACUC, or foreign travel approval documentation is submitted to enrichment@pugetsound.edu.
How to Apply
Students must submit an application for these funds to the University Enrichment Committee (UEC) using an online form. For detailed information on the application materials, as well as the links to all the necessary online forms, please visit the UEC Student Research Awards page.
The University Enrichment Committee (UEC) invites proposals for travel funding for full-time students whose independent work has been accepted for presentation at regional or national conferences. The maximum limit on each individual award is $500. Student co-presenters must apply individually for conference support funding, up to a maximum of $500 for each individual co-presenter. The total amount available for all co-presenters will not exceed $1,000 for the entire group, regardless of the number of co-presenters. Students may receive no more than one UEC conference travel award per academic year. To learn more, please visit Student Conference Travel Awards.
Please reach out to psychology@pugetsound.edu if you have immediate questions regarding these grants. The grants in the Department of Psychology at the University of Puget Sound follow the same application schedule as the UEC Awards. Applications appear in the application forms.
